Overview And Tasting Notes

The Partagás Línea Maestra Maestro is the flagship of the ultra-premium Línea Maestra collection, unveiled at the 2023 Habanos Festival — a new era for Partagás and its luxury answer to Cohiba’s Behike or Montecristo’s Línea 1935. The Maestro is the largest vitola in the series and features a distinctive 109-style “Cabeza Tumbada” (dropped head), a nod to classic Cuban craftsmanship, dressed in striking blue bands. Everything about this Línea is new and surprising — a fresh, still full-flavoured blend drawn from prized San Luis tobacco in the Vuelta Abajo, delivering thick, creamy smoke that balances power with genuine elegance.

About Partagás

The Partagás brand was established in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás y Ravelo, a Spanish immigrant who became a true pioneer of the Cuban cigar industry. He was among the first to experiment seriously with fermentation and ageing, and he introduced the tradition of the lector — a reader who entertains and educates the rollers — a practice that continues in Havana factories to this day. Don Jaime acquired prime Vuelta Abajo plantations to secure the world’s finest tobacco, setting Partagás apart from the outset. His story ended in tragedy — he was murdered on one of his plantations in 1868 — and the brand passed through several hands, including the Cifuentes family, who expanded its reach into the global icon it is today.

Fun Facts About the Partagás Línea Maestra Maestro

The Línea Maestra, launched at the 2023 Habanos Festival, is Partagás’s move into the ultra-premium tier — its equivalent of Cohiba’s Behike or Montecristo’s Línea 1935, and a genuine milestone for the brand.

The Maestro’s “Cabeza Tumbada” (dropped head) is a 109-style finish — a rare, traditional cap shape that recalls historic Cuban rolling craft, and one of the details that marks this out as a connoisseur’s cigar.

The blend draws on tobacco from San Luis, one of the most prized municipalities within the Vuelta Abajo — the terroir prized for the aromatic richness at the heart of this cigar.
