Overview And Tasting Notes
The Montecristo Petit Tubos is the ideal compact expression of one of Cuba's most beloved cigar brands — a short, elegant cigar presented in an individual aluminium tube, measuring 129mm with a 40 ring gauge. Mild to medium-bodied with cedar, nuts and a balanced, satisfying finish across approximately 30 minutes, the Petit Tubos is the perfect introduction to Montecristo — or the ideal option when time is limited and quality is non-negotiable. The tube presentation makes it one of the most popular Montecristo products for gifting.

About Montecristo
Montecristo is the world's best-selling Cuban cigar brand — first produced in 1935 at the H. Upmann factory in Havana, where rollers named it after Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo, which they read aloud during rolling sessions. The classic range — No. 1 through No. 5 — represents some of the most balanced and consistently excellent Cuban cigars ever made. Today Montecristo is produced at the Francisco Donatién factory in Pinar del Río and encompasses the classic range, the Edmundo family, the Open series, and the prestigious Línea 1935.
Tasting Notes of the Montecristo Petit Tubos
The Petit Tubos delivers the classic Montecristo character in its most compact and approachable form — a 30-minute smoke that punches well above its size.
- Pre-light: Light cedar and sweet tobacco — clean and inviting.
- First Third: Cream and cedar open gently with toasted nuts and a characteristic Montecristo earthiness. Mild and very approachable.
- Second Third: Light coffee and a gentle spice develop. Simple and satisfying — this is not a complex cigar but a consistently enjoyable one.
- Final Third: Cedar and nuts carry to a clean, balanced finish. Short but wholly satisfying.
- Overall: Mild to medium-bodied, approachable and consistently enjoyable — the perfect Montecristo for beginners and time-pressed smokers.

Fun Facts About the Montecristo Petit Tubos
The tubed presentation protects the cigar from humidity fluctuations and physical damage — making it particularly popular for travel and gifting. Montecristo's yellow and gold tube is one of the most recognisable cigar accessories in the world.
Montecristo was founded in 1935 — the same year as the H. Upmann factory where it was created. The brand outlasted its birthplace: H. Upmann's original factory was eventually consolidated into the Romeo y Julieta factory, but Montecristo moved to the Francisco Donatién factory in Pinar del Río where it is still produced today.
Despite its compact size, the Petit Tubos uses the same Cuban tobaccos as the full-sized Montecristo range — the same Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta leaf that makes the No. 2 one of the most celebrated Cuban cigars ever produced.
FAQ About the Montecristo Petit Tubos
Is the Montecristo Petit Tubos good for beginners?
Yes — its mild to medium body, short smoke time and approachable character make it one of the best entry points into Cuban cigars. The Montecristo quality is fully present without the intensity of larger vitolas.
Does the tube affect the cigar?
No — the aluminium tube protects the cigar without affecting the tobacco. Remove from the tube and allow to rest for a few minutes before smoking.
How long does it take to smoke?
Approximately 30 minutes — one of the shortest smokes in the Montecristo range.
What does EMS mean?
English Market Selection — confirming the cigars arrived via the official Habanos UK importer Hunters & Frankau and passed additional authenticity and condition checks.
