Overview And Tasting Notes

The Cohiba Siglo II is one of the most balanced and consistently excellent Cuban cigars available — a Corona measuring 129mm with a 42 ring gauge, part of the celebrated Línea 1492 launched in 1992. Mild to medium-bodied with cream, cedar, toasted nuts and a refined sweetness, the Siglo II delivers the full Cohiba complexity in approximately 30 minutes — making it one of the most versatile and accessible cigars in the entire range. For many aficionados, it is the ideal everyday Cohiba.

About Cohiba

Cohiba is Cuba's most prestigious cigar brand — created in 1966 as a private blend for Fidel Castro and senior Cuban officials before becoming available to the public in 1982. Produced exclusively at El Laguito factory in Havana, Cohiba is the only Cuban brand to use a unique triple fermentation process for its ligero leaves, delivering exceptional complexity and refinement. Today Cohiba encompasses the classic Línea 1492 (Siglo I through VI), the ultra-premium Behike line incorporating the rare Medio Tiempo leaf, and the Maduro 5 range.

Tasting Notes of the Cohiba Siglo II

The Siglo II is the sweet spot of the Línea 1492 — enough length and ring gauge to develop genuine complexity while remaining accessible and elegant throughout.

- Pre-light: Sweet cedar and light tobacco with the characteristic floral Cohiba aroma.

- First Third: Cream, cedar and toasted almonds open smoothly. The triple-fermented ligero adds a creaminess and refinement absent in other Cuban Coronas.

- Second Third: Coffee and gentle spice develop alongside continued cedar and nuts. Floral undertones add elegance — this is a distinctly Cohiba character.

- Final Third: Light leather, earth and a long, sweet finish. The burn is even and the draw consistent throughout.

- Overall: Mild to medium-bodied, creamy and elegant — the ideal everyday Cohiba.

Fun Facts About the Cohiba Siglo II

The Siglo II uses the Mareva vitola — the same format as the H. Upmann Petit Coronas and the Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs. In the world of Cuban cigars, the Mareva is one of the most produced and widely smoked formats, yet the Cohiba Siglo II is consistently considered its finest expression.

The triple fermentation process used exclusively by Cohiba for its ligero leaves adds an extra stage of processing that removes additional ammonia and harsh compounds — the result is a creaminess and smoothness that distinguishes Cohiba from other Cuban brands using tobaccos from the same Vuelta Abajo growing region.

The Línea 1492 was the first major new Cohiba range since the brand's public launch in 1982 — six vitolas released simultaneously to mark a single historical anniversary, a unique event in Cuban cigar history.

FAQ About the Cohiba Siglo II

Is the Cohiba Siglo II good for beginners?
Yes — its mild to medium body and short smoke time make it one of the most accessible Cohiba vitolas. It delivers genuine Cohiba complexity without the intensity of the Robusto or Siglo VI.

How does it compare to the Siglo IV?
The Siglo IV is longer and wider, delivering a fuller, more developed smoke. The Siglo II is lighter and quicker — ideal for when you want Cohiba quality without committing to a longer smoke.

How long does it take to smoke?
Approximately 30 minutes at a relaxed pace.

What does EMS mean?
English Market Selection — confirming the cigars arrived via the official Habanos UK importer Hunters & Frankau and passed additional authenticity and condition checks.
