Overview And Tasting Notes

The Cohiba Siglo IV is the most popular vitola in the Línea 1492 — a Corona Extra measuring 143mm with a 46 ring gauge, offering the ideal balance between complexity and smoke time within the Cohiba Siglo range. Available here in the elegant individual tube presentation, the Siglo IV is medium to full-bodied with cedar, coffee, leather and a long, complex finish across approximately 60 minutes. It is the Cohiba of choice for experienced smokers seeking the full expression of the brand's triple-fermented character.

About Cohiba

Cohiba is Cuba's most prestigious cigar brand — created in 1966 as a private blend for Fidel Castro and senior Cuban officials before becoming available to the public in 1982. Produced exclusively at El Laguito factory in Havana, Cohiba is the only Cuban brand to use a unique triple fermentation process for its ligero leaves, delivering exceptional complexity and refinement. Today Cohiba encompasses the classic Línea 1492 (Siglo I through VI), the ultra-premium Behike line incorporating the rare Medio Tiempo leaf, and the Maduro 5 range.

Tasting Notes of the Cohiba Siglo IV

The Siglo IV is widely considered the finest all-round vitola in the Línea 1492 — enough length and ring gauge for full complexity to develop, yet not so demanding as the Siglo VI.

- Pre-light: Cedar and sweet tobacco with the characteristic Cohiba floral quality — inviting and refined.

- First Third: Cream, cedar and coffee open confidently. The triple-fermented ligero asserts itself early — a distinctive creaminess sets the tone.

- Second Third: Leather, dried fruit and gentle earth develop. The complexity builds steadily and the burn remains even throughout.

- Final Third: Black pepper, coffee and a long, sweet finish. The strength builds moderately — medium to full-bodied by the close.

- Overall: Medium to full-bodied, complex and deeply satisfying — the benchmark Cohiba for experienced smokers.

Fun Facts About the Cohiba Siglo IV

The Siglo IV uses the Corona Extra vitola — a format that was relatively rare in the Cuban portfolio before the Línea 1492 launch in 1992. Its 46 ring gauge and 143mm length struck a balance between the slimmer Siglo III and the wider Siglo V that many smokers found ideal.

The individual tube presentation protects the cigar from humidity fluctuations and physical damage — making tubed cigars particularly popular for travel and gifting. The Cohiba tube is one of the most recognisable cigar accessories in the world.

Cohiba's triple fermentation process — the third fermentation exclusive to the brand — takes place in barrels and adds a further stage of ammonia removal and flavour development that no other Cuban brand replicates.

FAQ About the Cohiba Siglo IV Tubed

What is the difference between the Siglo IV and the Siglo VI?
The Siglo VI is wider (52 vs 46 ring gauge) and slightly shorter, delivering a fuller, richer smoke. The Siglo IV is more elegant and refined — the ideal choice for smokers who want Cohiba complexity without the intensity of the VI.

Does the tube affect the cigar?
No — the aluminium tube protects the cigar without affecting the tobacco. Remove the cigar from the tube and allow it to rest for 30 minutes before smoking if it has been stored in a warm environment.

How long does it take to smoke?
Approximately 60 minutes at a relaxed pace.

What does EMS mean?
English Market Selection — confirming the cigars arrived via the official Habanos UK importer Hunters & Frankau and passed additional authenticity and condition checks.
