Overview And Tasting Notes

The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro Torpedo is the darker, richer expression of Oliva’s most decorated line — the Maduro sibling to the blend whose Figurado was Cigar Aficionado’s #1 Cigar of the Year in 2014. In place of the Natural’s Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, the Maduro wears a spicy Mexican San Andrés leaf over aged Nicaraguan ligero fillers, box-pressed and finished here in an elegant tapered Torpedo. The result is a decadent, full-flavoured cigar that opens on rich chocolate and espresso before developing dark fruit, black pepper and leather — a genuine knockout, and the choice for smokers who love a deep, sweet, complex Maduro made by one of Nicaragua’s finest houses.

About Oliva

Oliva is one of Nicaragua’s most celebrated cigar families, with a heritage stretching back to 1886, when Melanio Oliva first grew tobacco in Pinar del Río, Cuba. Three generations and two revolutions later, his descendants settled in Nicaragua, where the family became one of the country’s largest growers of Cuban-seed tobacco. From their Tabacalera Oliva in Estelí, they craft a portfolio that has appeared on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list nine times in a row — culminating in the Serie V Melanio being named Cigar of the Year in 2014.

Fun Facts About the Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro Torpedo

The Maduro swaps the Melanio Natural’s Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper for a spicy Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf — one of the world’s most prized dark wrappers, famed for deep cocoa-and-coffee richness.

It belongs to the Serie V Melanio family, whose Figurado won Cigar Aficionado’s #1 Cigar of the Year in 2014 — so this is the dark, decadent cousin of an all-time great blend.

The Torpedo’s tapered head concentrates the smoke, intensifying the Maduro’s rich chocolate and espresso notes — a shape well suited to a cigar this flavour-forward.

FAQ About the Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro Torpedo

How is the Maduro different from the Natural Melanio?
The Maduro wears a Mexican San Andrés wrapper instead of Ecuadorian Sumatra, giving a darker, sweeter, more chocolate-and-espresso-forward profile. Both are full-flavoured; the Maduro is the richer, darker of the two.

Is it a strong cigar?
It’s full-flavoured and full-bodied — rich and decadent — but smooth and balanced, with the signature Oliva construction. Best for smokers who enjoy a bold Maduro.

What is San Andrés?
A prized Mexican tobacco region famous for dark, sweet, chocolatey maduro wrappers — the source of this cigar’s deep cocoa-and-coffee richness.

Where are your Oliva cigars sourced from?
