Overview And Tasting Notes

The Aladino Corojo Corona is a classic, hand-rolled Honduran cigar built to revive the golden era of Cuban cigars from the 1940s to the 1960s. A traditional Corona measuring 5" × 44, it is a Honduran puro made entirely from authentic Corojo — wrapper, binder and filler all grown from original Cuban seed on the Eiroa family’s own farm in the Jamastrán Valley of Honduras. It is the work of JRE Tobacco, the family company led by legendary grower Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo, whose tobacco lineage stretches back over a century. Aged 18–24 months for sweetness and consistency, the result is a smooth, full-flavoured, impeccably constructed smoke of around forty-five minutes — a genuine taste of pre-embargo Cuban character, grown and rolled in Honduras.

About Aladino

Aladino is the flagship brand of JRE Tobacco, a fully family-run, crop-to-shop operation founded by Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo M. Eiroa. Born in 1938 in San Juan y Martínez in Cuba’s famed Pinar del Río, Julio came from a tobacco family whose roots on the island reach back to the early 1900s. After the Cuban Revolution the family left, and Julio eventually settled in Danlí, Honduras, cultivating tobacco in the Jamastrán Valley from the early 1960s. The Eiroas went on to own the original Camacho brand for over a decade before selling it to the Davidoff group in 2008 — and then turned their full attention to Aladino, built entirely around the tobacco they are most famous for: authentic Corojo. Grown from original Cuban seed rather than a modern hybrid, and used by the Eiroas for wrapper, binder and filler alike, this is the leaf that defined the classic Cuban cigar. Aladino is Julio’s tribute to it — a deliberately “no-frills,” old-fashioned cigar that lets the tobacco speak.

Tasting Notes of the Aladino Corojo Corona

A smooth, creamy, full-flavoured Corona with the classic Corojo profile and flawless construction.

- Initial Third: Opens with cedar and baker’s spice over a delicate sweetness and a touch of white pepper, with subtle almond and a creamy texture adding depth.

- Middle Third: Develops richer woodiness, mild earth and a gentle peppery spice, with occasional vanilla, nuts and a hint of citrus balancing the core flavours.

- Final Third: Intensifies with more pronounced cedar, leather and a lingering sweetness; the finish is clean and satisfying, harmonising spice, earth and subtle floral notes.

- Aroma: A bouquet of cedar, earth and baking spice, with a mellow sweetness and a touch of white pepper.

- Mouthfeel: Smooth and creamy with a velvet-like texture and an even burn — the hallmark of excellent construction.

Fun Facts About the Aladino Corojo Corona

The name “Aladino” comes from a vintage movie theatre in Danlí, Honduras, which the Eiroa family converted into their cigar factory — the Fábrica de Puros Aladino. The brand’s deliberately old-fashioned band and “no-frills” look are a nod to that heritage.

The Eiroas are one of only a handful of growers in the world to cultivate authentic Corojo from the original Cuban seed. Corojo is notoriously prone to blue mould, which is why most manufacturers long ago switched to hardier hybrids like Criollo 98 — the Eiroas stuck with the original seed purely for its superior flavour, accepting the extra work in the field.

Before Aladino, the Eiroa family owned the original Camacho brand, which they sold to the Davidoff group in 2008. Aladino is the family’s return to making cigars entirely on their own terms, from their own authentic Corojo.

FAQ About the Aladino Corojo Corona

What is a “Honduran puro”?
It means every leaf in the cigar is grown in Honduras. The Aladino Corojo Corona is 100% Honduran Corojo — wrapper, binder and filler — grown from original Cuban seed on the Eiroa family farm in the Jamastrán Valley.

What is authentic Corojo, and why does it matter?
Corojo is the original Cuban wrapper leaf, named after the Santa Inés del Corojo farm in Pinar del Río. Most growers abandoned the original seed decades ago because it is difficult to grow; the Eiroas are among the very few who still cultivate the real thing, prizing its natural sweetness and complexity.

Is the Aladino Corojo Corona good for beginners?
It is a smooth, well-balanced, full-flavoured cigar with excellent construction, which makes it approachable — though its traditional full flavour is best appreciated by those who enjoy a classic profile. The 5" × 44 Corona is a comfortable forty-five-minute smoke.

Who makes Aladino cigars?
Aladino is made by JRE Tobacco, the family company of Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo — a fully vertically integrated, crop-to-shop operation that grows its own tobacco and rolls its own cigars in Honduras.

Where are your Aladino cigars sourced from?
Through Global Leaf Co., the exclusive UK distributor of Aladino — confirming the cigars reached the UK through the authorised channel and were checked on arrival.
