Out of stockThe H. Upmann Magnum 54 is the widest and boldest member of the Magnum family — a Prominente vitola measuring 140mm with a 54 ring gauge introduced in 2017 as a modern, fuller-bodied addition to the H. Upmann regular production range. Medium-bodied with rich cedar, coffee and a sustained creamy texture, the wider gauge opens up the draw and delivers a cooler, slower burn than the slender Magnum 46 — rewarding smokers who prefer substance alongside refinement.
Founded in Havana in 1844 by German banker Hermann Dietrich Upmann, H. Upmann is one of Cuba's oldest and most distinguished cigar houses. Upmann arrived in Cuba to expand his family's banking interests but became captivated by the tobacco industry, purchasing a factory and producing cigars under his own name. The brand is credited with introducing the cedar cigar box — a practice that became the global standard — and with creating some of the most refined blends in the Habanos portfolio. Today H. Upmann is revered for elegance and consistency across formats from the compact Half Corona to the stately Sir Winston.
The Magnum 54 opens with the familiar H. Upmann elegance and builds to a fuller, more enveloping profile across its 75-minute smoke.
- Pre-light: Rich cedar and sweet tobacco with a hint of dark fruit.
- First Third: Cream and cedar lead, with a notably cool, smooth draw. Subtle spice on the retrohale.
- Second Third: Coffee and cedar intensify alongside leather and hazelnut. The wide gauge allows flavours to develop with exceptional smoothness.
- Final Third: A creamy, sustained finish with lingering coffee and mild spice — consistent right to the end.
- Overall: Medium-bodied, smooth and impressive — the boldest expression of the H. Upmann Magnum range.

The Magnum 54 was launched in 2017, making it one of the most recent additions to H. Upmann's regular production line.
A 54 ring gauge is among the widest in the standard Habanos vitola catalogue — producing a noticeably cooler and slower burn than narrow-gauge formats.
Is the Magnum 54 stronger than the Magnum 46?
Fuller in body rather than stronger in nicotine — the wider gauge produces a richer, more enveloping smoke rather than a harsher one.
How long does it take to smoke?
Approximately 75 minutes at a relaxed pace.
What does EMS mean?
English Market Selection — confirming the cigars arrived via the official Habanos UK importer and passed additional authenticity and condition checks.
