Les Fines Lames DYAD - Concrete Ashtray - Grey

The Les Fines Lames DYAD is a concrete cigar ashtray designed to hold two cigars — a sculptural, modern object that looks as good on a desk, table or in a smoking room as it does in use. Part of Les Fines Lames' acclaimed MONAD and DYAD ashtray line, the DYAD is crafted in France from ultra-high-performance mortar (concrete), a designer material that lets the brand play with shape, texture and colour in a way glass or metal never could. Weighty, tactile and beautifully minimal, it is a world away from the ordinary ashtray — and unmistakably Les Fines Lames.

The DYAD is the two-cigar model (its sibling, the MONAD, holds one), and its name is no accident: a dyad is the number two in ancient metaphysics, from which the whole line takes its philosophy. Each piece is individually crafted, so no two are exactly alike, and the base carries a thick felt pad to protect your furniture. It makes a striking, design-led gift for any cigar lover — and a genuine centrepiece for a smoking space.

Colour: A refined grey — the purest expression of the raw concrete, understated and endlessly versatile, at home in any interior.

About the Design

Les Fines Lames describes the MONAD and DYAD line as “a search for balance and simplicity — an ode to the spirit of the cigar.” The design draws on two things dear to the brand: philosophy, which gives the ashtrays their names (from ancient metaphysics), and architecture and Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetics, which celebrate the humility and honesty of the raw concrete material. The result is an object that embodies Leonardo da Vinci's maxim — “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” — and turns something as everyday as an ashtray into a considered piece of design.
