Overview And Tasting Notes
The Montecristo Dantés Edición Limitada 2016 is a standout limited edition release, named after Edmond Dantès, the protagonist of The Count of Monte Cristo. This cigar introduces the Hermosos No. 1 vitola to the Montecristo lineup - a first for the brand. A marked difference in shape from recent Limited Editions from Montecristo and, although it still has a ring gauge of 48, it has a decidedly slender feel to it. Nonetheless, all of the peppery tang associated with the brand very much remain in place.
The Dantés takes its name from the Dumas novel that named the brand — our complete guide to Montecristo cigars tells that story in full.
Founded in 1935 by Alonso Menéndez in Cuba, Montecristo is one of the world’s most iconic cigar brands. The brand’s name and logo were inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, a favourite among cigar rollers who would listen to readings of the story in the factory. Montecristo quickly gained a reputation for quality and innovation, becoming the best-selling Cuban cigar brand globally. Today, Montecristo is synonymous with excellence, tradition, and a rich, balanced flavour profile, enjoyed by aficionados and collectors worldwide.
