Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 (May 2024, Sealed VMC Box of 25)

Overview

The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 is the marca’s flagship robusto and one of the most admired cigars in the Habanos portfolio — 124mm × 50 ring gauge, entirely hand-rolled with long filler from the Vuelta Abajo. Where other Havanas announce themselves, the Hoyo persuades: it is the house of delicacy, and the Epicure No. 2 is its clearest statement. This is a sealed box of 25, box-coded ESM MAY 24, with the Habanos Denominación de Origen Protegida band and the Cuban national warranty seal intact. The clear film visible in the photographs is protective wrap we added for storage, not factory cellophane.

It is a Venta Mercado Cubano (VMC) box — produced for sale within Cuba rather than for export. VMC stock rarely leaves the island in its original sealed presentation, which is what makes a full, untouched 25 worth a collector’s attention.

Please note: this box is available for purchase by non-UK based customers only.

Tasting Notes

• Character: Light to medium, refined and aromatic — the classic Hoyo de Monterrey signature.
• Profile: Cedar and toasted bread over a gentle honeyed sweetness, with a soft floral note and a clean, elegant finish.

Format

The robusto is the format most smokers reach for when they want the blend at its most complete: enough length for the flavours to develop, short enough to finish at its best. In the Epicure No. 2 it gives roughly an hour of unhurried, consistently cool smoking.
