The Montecristo 520 Edición Limitada 2012 is a rare and highly sought-after Cuban cigar, released as a limited edition to commemorate the 520th anniversary of Cuban tobacco’s introduction to Europe after Columbus first saw it in Cuba in his first trip in 1492. This impressive vitola, known as "Maravillas No. 3," measures 6 1/8 inches (155 mm) in length with a substantial 55 ring gauge, offering a robusto extra format that stands out for its size and presence. Each cigar is meticulously hand-rolled using specially aged tobaccos from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region, dressed in a dark, oily Cuban wrapper that glistens with natural oils. The Montecristo 520 delivers a medium-to-full-bodied experience, combining boldness with refined complexity and a slow, even burn for a truly luxurious smoke.

- Initial Third: Opens with bold notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and cedar, underscored by a sweet vanilla and a touch of saltiness. Hints of pepper and earth add complexity, while the smoke is thick and creamy with a lingering, slightly spicy finish.

- Middle Third: The profile mellows, revealing flavours of coffee bean, leather, hay, and roasted nuts. The vanilla sweetness intensifies, and the pepper on the retrohale becomes more pronounced. The body remains medium to full, with a creamy texture and balanced richness.

- Final Third: The cigar deepens with dominant notes of earth, coffee, and leather. Sweet chocolatey flavours recede, giving way to a more robust, slightly bitter finish with subtle hints of dried fruit and spice.
