Partagás was created in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás, the cigars are immediately recognisable for their intense flavour
The Partagás Serie D Especial Edición Limitada 2010 is a highly sought-after Cuban cigar, celebrated for its bold character, complexity, and the signature full-bodied flavour of the Partagás brand. Released as part of the prestigious Edición Limitada series, this Gordito (Robusto Extra) measures 141mm in length with a 50 ring gauge, and is handmade in Havana using select tobaccos aged for at least two years from the Vuelta Abajo region.
The Especial packed a serious punch when it was first launched in the UK with many early smokers noting a potential for long term ageing. The power will have somewhat rounded and mellowed over the years but there is still plenty of rich aromas left in the blend. It will continue to develop for many years to come.
The Partagás brand was established by Don Jaime Partagás y Ravelo, a Spanish immigrant who became a pioneer in the Cuban cigar industry. He was among the first to experiment with fermentation and aging techniques, and he introduced the tradition of employing a “reader” to entertain and educate factory workers - a practice that continues in Havana today. Don Jaime acquired prime plantations in the Vuelta Abajo region, renowned for producing the world’s finest tobacco. This commitment to quality raw materials set Partagás apart from its inception. Don Jaime Partagás was a visionary but met a tragic end - he was murdered on one of his plantations in 1868. The brand passed through several hands, including the Cifuentes family, who expanded its reach and influence.
